Christening = Motherhood

Today, hubby and I went to two christenings. Luckily for us, they were at different times.

I was able to carry the baby boy but not the baby girl. At six months, the baby boy is about 10 kilos. Really heavy. Really cute baby boy. I could almost imagine carrying my hubby's replica (of course, not his six feet three inches stature.)

Today, more than ever, I wanted to be a mom. So much so that I can almost taste it.

Maybe it's cause of my looming resignation in the very near future that makes me feel we can have a baby.

Weird isn't it? No work means less money. Less money means we might not be able to support the baby as much as we could now. But no work means no stress.

Weighing the odds, which one really does matter?

Baby Names

I was tagged by a friend.

When we do have have babies, hubby and I want our kids to be named as:

Stephen Marcus or Nikolai Joaquim if he's a boy.

Katharina Franchesca or Maria Sabina if she's a girl.

Why did we chose these names? It sounds pretty and Russian, like my husband's name. =)

We are aware that, chances are, these names will change. In any case, I'm writing it down so that we wouldn't forget.

I just hope we have a baby. I wouldn't mind naming him/her patola or kamote, as long as we have a baby.

Doctor#3

Last Sunday, I found out I wasn't pregnant (again). I texted my ob-gyn and she referred me to another doctor "who helps those who cannot help themselves." This would be our third doctor in a year.

We saw the doctor yesterday and we like him. Yes, him. This will be the first male ob-gyn that I will have but I think he's very credible. After all, I just found out that he's the "Head of the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Unit and Gynecologic Endoscopy unit at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology" at the hospital we went to.

What I like more about this doctor is that he asked questions and probed on our history and medicines that we were supposedly not taking. He asked me to have my blood tested for the 7 Hormones:

  • Follicle Stimulating Hormone
  • Luteinizing Hormone
  • Estradiol
  • Testosterone
  • Thyroid Stimulating Hormone
  • Prolactin
  • Free Thyroxine

He explained all 7 hormones and told me not to stress. He asked me to have the blood checked 3 hours after I wake up, which is 2 hours from now.

He told me to stop taking the medicine initially advised and have a two weeks washout period before taking a fasting insulin test.

Hubby is also supposed to take some test. Unfortunately, the hospital we went to only spews out normal results. He has to go to another hospital and have the tests done there.

Optimistic as it may seem, I think we are headed in the right direction. We have been praying for this and God directed us to the right doctor. Hopefully, something (or someone) comes out of this effort.

Diagnosis

Having a baby is not easy for hubby and me.

We have been visiting the doctor for a couple of months. Hubby and I have been trying to conceive but to no avail.

There are no words to express how frustrating it has been for us. For me, especially. I don't think I'd ever feel fulfilled until I hold our baby in my arms.

Once, our director asked a bunch of us, what would we want to be if money was no issue. Some of the folks answered a photographer or an owner of a small business. Me? I replied with, "A mom."

I knew since I was 20 that having a baby will be difficult for me. Being diagnosed with not ovulating, ob-gynes told me to get married soon and start having babies at the age of 25. It seemed like a lifetime then and I didn't want get saddled down too early. I thought that science would catch up and cure me.

Almost ten years later, I know I made a good decision. Else, I wouldn't have married the love of my life. But a part of me wish I met hubby years earlier and we would have about 3 kids by now.

I have 11 more days to wait to actually find out.

Else, it will be another series of medicines. Another series of tests. Possibly A.I.

Getting Pregnant

Earlier today, my hubby and I had a discussion with his mom. The long and short of it is about us getting pregnant.

She found out from my brother-in-law (who knows our ob-gyn) that we were not seeing our ob as often as we should. This made the ob-gyn think we are not serious about having a baby.

You see, my body is not wired as it should be when it comes to making a baby. It deserves a post of its own so I will leave it at that for the mean time.

I recognize her concern and all though she does not mean to pressure us, she did remind me that I am not getting any younger.

The beautiful thing about all the discussion this afternoon was that I saw the commitment of my husband to go through the treatments with me.

Baby steps towards making a baby of our own.
